Beverly Jean (Eckert) Lorenz

Beverly Jean (Eckert) Lorenz 89, born in Endicott on September 17th, hh1936, and formerly of Endicott, passed away peacefully after a long illness surrounded by the love of her family on October 28th, 2025, in Groveport, OH.  She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Victor J. Lorenz on January 11, 2024, and her grandson, Nicholas Drapp.  She is survived by her three daughters and their spouses: Karen & Lew Walker of Summerville, SC; Debra and Steve Dykun of Orange, CT; and Vicki and Steve Drapp of Lancaster, OH.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Gregory (Michelle), Corey (Kirsten) and Colin Walker; Zachary and Eric Dykun; Emily and Stephanie Drapp.  She is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Audrey, Gregory II, Garrett and Juliette Walker.  She is also survived by her sister, Marilyn Lasky, her brother, Edward Eckert, sister-in-law, Muriel Jackson, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and many friends and neighbors.

Beverly was born and raised in the Endicott area and graduated from Union-Endicott High School class of 1954.  After high school, Bev began her career with IBM, and later worked in the offices of Endicott Johnson Shoes, where she remained until her retirement.  During this time, she was introduced to her future husband, Vic.  They were married on April 25th, 1959.  Bev was a loving wife, a nurturing mother, and an endlessly supportive presence in her daughters’ lives.   Bev was the kind of mother who was always there – typing last-minute school papers, volunteering for every activity, and chauffeuring on countless occasions.  She was a Brownie troop leader, room mom, and an enthusiastic supporter of her daughters’ sports, especially the West Corners Softball League.  Holidays were not complete without Bev’s homemade treats, particularly her apricot kolache, nutrolls, and her cherished Scandinavian specialties.

Bev was a talented seamstress and knitter and created clothing for her daughters when they were young. Bev later became known for her beautifully crafted Afghans.  She devoted time each week to sewing and knitting groups and consistently contributed handmade items to St. Joseph’s annual church bazaars. Bev was also a familiar face in her community.  Many remember her from the Pizza Frite tent at the St. Joseph Bazaar or volunteering at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open at Enjoie Golf Course. Her greatest weekly joy was bowling night with her sister and cousin, Betty.

Bev embraced her role as grandmother with warmth and pride and spent a lot of time with her grandchildren.  She was later overjoyed to welcome four great grandchildren who brought her immense joy.  Bev’s life was rich with family, traditions, faith, and the simple pleasures of caring for the people she loved.  She will be remembered for her kindness, her unshakable devotion to her family, her talent with a sewing needle and knitting needles, her delicious baked goods, and the countless ways she quietly made life brighter for everyone around her.

Bev and Vic made their home in the Triple Cities for most of their lives before their later years brought them closer to their children as their health declined.

James Edwin “Jamie” Edwards Jr.

James Edwin “Jamie” Edwards Jr., 70, of Endwell, NY, passed away on November 2, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

He is survived by his three children, Derek (Sarah), James III (Melissa), and Ericia (Joe); and his six adored grandchildren, Michael, Alexander, Maria, James Marie, Wells, and Cole. He also leaves behind his siblings, Penny (Kevin), Sandy (Chris), and David (Mary), and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss his humor, loyalty, and kindness. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Beverly Edwards.

Jamie lived and breathed sports. Whether he was on the field as a player, calling a game as an umpire, coaching from the sidelines, or cheering in the stands, sports were at the heart of who he was. His love for the game was more than just a hobby — it was how he connected with others, taught life lessons, and showed his pride in his community and family. Every season, every game, and every play held a special place in his heart.

Still, nothing brought him greater joy than watching his children and grandchildren — on and off the field. Jamie’s pride in his family was unmatched, and he never missed a chance to support them, encourage them, and celebrate every victory, big or small.

For decades, Jamie worked as a salesman for a building wholesaler, where his friendly personality and genuine care for people left a lasting impression. But his greatest legacy will always be the love of the game he shared — the laughter on the sidelines, the lessons he taught as a coach, and the friendships built through a shared passion for sports.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday November 7th from 11 AM until 12 Noon at The Riverdale 2901 Watson Blvd. Endwell, NY 13760.

She tutored students through local co-ops and helped many families with the education of their children. Her zeal for life and faith in Jesus was contagious. Lisa’s greatest desire was to be still and wait on God. She had much wisdom and spent countless hours ministering to those in need. God was always first; followed by her family, then everything else. She will be missed more than tongue can tell.

Lisa’s family will be holding a celebration of life on October 25, 2025 at 2 PM at the Crossroads of Life Church at 18 Exchange St. Binghamton, NY. We invite all who knew her to come and share some stories about Lisa as we celebrate a life well lived

James “Jim” Stephens

James “Jim” Stephens, 55, went to join his father suddenly, yet peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2025 after enduring many years of debilitating pain from a work-related injury. Jim never let that take away from his 30-years of service as an auto technician with Feduke Ford-Lincoln. Jim is predeceased by his father, Jerry Stephens, who was also his mentor sharing in his knowledge and love of cars. That passion would be passed along to his boys Brandon and Jarrett. Brandon continues Jim’s hard working mentality alongside his wife, Alyssa and their two daughters Maliyah and Natalie. These granddaughters to Jim, brought him such great joy and pride. Jarrett, too, carries on Jim’s hardworking nature along with their shared interest in all things cars–supporting him, caring for him, and working alongside Jim in every capacity up until the very end. Jim’s other joys are his Dachshunds, Josie and Shelby (named after a model of Mustang cars, his favorite thing in life to drive). His beloved wife of 30 years, Jen Stephens (Pecka), will have those pups to comfort her as she mourns the loss of her husband, partner, friend, and love. By Jen’s side, are those whom Jim is survived by. Including his mother, Nancy Stephens who will feel the loss of Jim immensely. The only good to come out of his injury was the time he was given to enjoy the simpler things in life. Baking side by side with his mom, the family’s favorite—his infamous apple pie! Joining in this loss is his brother, Jeff Stephens, wife Jill, and their daughter Jenna and Jim’s sister, Laura Decosse (Stephens), her husband Dave, and their daughters Karissa and Ashlyn. We are all grateful for the beautiful fall evening recently spent together celebrating Nancy’s 80th Birthday. Just one day before his passing Jim was able to enjoy a drive with his wife and mother to visit his father’s gravesite which will be Jim’s final resting place as well. They are together again, the way a father and son should be, and with this we are left with comfort. Instead of flowers please consider a donation to the Broome County Council of Churches CHOW pantry: Community Baptist Church 743 Chenango Street Binghamton, NY 13901 and join us in saying goodbye to Jim at the Pucedo Funeral Home, 1905 Watson Blvd, Endicott, NY on Thursday, October 16th from 5-7pm, with a service immediately following. Burial will be Friday, October 17th at 11:30am at the Nicholson Cemetery located on Harding Ave, Nicholson, PA 18446.
