John (Jack) Ficke, Jr., 90, of Endwell, NY died at his home on April, 5, 2026. Jack was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Jack was born in Blakely, PA then moved with his parents to Endicott, NY. Jack was a graduate of Union-Endicott High School, Broome Community College and Elmira College. A veteran of the United States Army, he completed his active-duty service and returned to his position at IBM retiring after 36 years. IBM is where Jack met his wife of 67 years, Betty Mrowca. Jack was actively involved in SS Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church and Church of the Holy Family serving as a eucharistic minister, teacher of religious education and confirmation, member of the church choir, the Holy Name Society and with the Perpetual Adoration In later years, he was a regular volunteer at Mercy House Hospice Center in Endicott, NY. He had a lifelong love of sports and was a fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers then the New York Mets, New York Giants and the Syracuse Orange. He also enjoyed tending to his backyard vegetable garden.
Jack is survived by his wife Betty, daughters Annette (John) Salvagno, Theresa Ficke, and son Christopher (Melanie) Ficke, sister-in-law Janet (David) Guy and nieces Kathryn and Mary. Jack has four grandchildren Joseph, Lauren, Logan and Ruby. His great-grandson August was born last year.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents Anna and Jack Sr., sons Michael, James and Thomas and in-laws Stanley and Jane Mrowca.
Visitation will be at Holy Family Church Monday April 13 at 10:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM followed by military honors. Internment at SS Peter and Paul Byzantine Cemetery will occur at a later date.
