George Peter Magur, age 88, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, lovingly surrounded by close family. He was a devoted member of St. Mary's Russian Orthodox Church in Endicott, NY.
George is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Marilyn Magur; his son Edward Magur (Kristin); his daughter Ann Magur; and his nieces Karen Weeks (Randy), Marjorie Schleining, and Melissa Mannino (Ben). He also leaves behind his cherished granddaughter Nicolette Magur, and grand-nieces and nephews Kyle Weeks, Ashley Weeks, Justin Smith, Anthony Mannino, Rachel (Mannino) Castille, and Christine Mannino.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Mary Magur; his sister, Mary Schleining; and his niece, Patricia James.
George earned his bachelor’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his master’s degree from SUNY Binghamton. He dedicated nearly three decades of his career to Singer-Link and CAE-Link, contributing to the development of advanced flight simulators, including work on the top-secret B-2 stealth bomber and the F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter jet.
A devoted fan of the New York Yankees, Rangers, and Giants, George could often be found in his recliner offering spirited commentary on their performances. He was a loving husband and father who rarely missed a single one of Ed or Ann’s sporting events. Later in life, he enjoyed annual family trips to Las Vegas and sunny vacations in Florida with Marilyn.
George was an avid golfer, a longtime member of Enjoie Golf Club, and finished his playing days at Endwell Greens, often hitting the course with his lifelong friend, Mike Choma.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the administration and skilled nursing unit at Good Shepherd Village for their grace and compassionate care in his final days.
Funeral services will be held Saturday August 2nd at 11:30 AM at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church 1907 Jenkins St. Endicott, NY. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc. 1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott, NY, on Friday August 1st from 6 to 8 PM. The Rev. Nathaniel Choma will hold a Panachida Service at 6:30 PM on Friday at the Pucedo Funeral Home.
