Jan Møller Nielsen, born on March 27, 1944, in Aalborg, Denmark, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, at Mercy House in Endicott, New York, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Jan was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Jennifer Karen, and his brother, Robert Møller Nielsen.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Linda Nielsen; his devoted son, Christopher Møller Nielsen (Maria); and his cherished grandsons, Jacob Møller Nielsen and Zachary Møller Nielsen. He is also survived by his brother, Gary Møller Nielsen (Liz); his sister-in-law, Becky Nielsen Dukes; his brother-in-law, Larry Crouch; many nieces and nephews; his beloved first cousins and their families in Denmark; and dear friends Dawn and Don Ballard, Roy Wagner, and Ralph Taylor, whose frequent visits, conversations, and thoughtful treats brought Jan much comfort.
Jan earned a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland and a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University. He enjoyed a distinguished career as a Senior Systems Engineer with Lockheed Martin, formerly IBM Federal Systems Division, where he worked for over 30 years before retiring. Together with his wife, Linda, he also owned and operated Nielsen's Hill Haven Blueberry Farm in Glen Aubrey, New York, for more than 35 years, where they welcomed countless customers and created many lasting friendships.
Jan had a lifelong passion for aviation and was a licensed private pilot who loved flying whenever he could. He also enjoyed collecting sports cars and fine watches and was always among the first to embrace new technology. Intelligent, curious, and innovative, Jan approached life with enthusiasm and determination. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who worked tirelessly to provide for and care for his family. His quiet strength, generosity, and love will be remembered by all who knew him.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Guthrie Lourdes Hospital, Seton 1, for the excellent care they provided Jan during his hospitalization, and to the compassionate caregivers at Mercy House for the comfort, dignity, and kindness they showed him and his family during his final days. Their care will never be forgotten.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Nanticoke Christian Church, 25 Church Street, Lisle, NY 13797.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Jan's memory may make a donation to Mercy House, 212 N. McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760, in appreciation of the compassionate care and comfort they provided to Jan and his family.
