Emilio was born August 10, 1932, in Vacri, Italy. He lived through war torn Italy during World War II. After the war at age 13, he apprenticed as a tailor and barber. In the 1950s to help his family he traveled to Venezuela and worked there for several years before returning to Italy. Emilio came to the United States and worked in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and then moved to Binghamton, NY to live with his cousins Giuseppe and Angelina DeVincentis. He met his wife, Suava who emigrated from Poland at night school where they were both learning English.

Emilio worked at Ben’s Clothes Shop for many years before finishing his career at JCPenneys. Emilio and Suava enjoyed travels to Europe, Australia, Mexico, and the Caribbean Islands. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and especially grafting fruit trees, and gave lots of his fruit trees to family and friends. He also loved Italian Opera, especially those of Giuseppe Verdi, and attended many opera performances in Venezuela and also at the Tri Cities Opera in Binghamton. He always thought of family first, then friends, and himself last.

The family would like to thank Dr. John Bertini, and all the doctors, nurses, and staff at General Hospital for the wonderful care Emilio received in his last days.

The family will receive visitors at the Church of the Holy Family, Endwell, NY, on Wednesday, July 8th from 9:30 to 11:00 am, followed by a funeral mass. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, Endicott, NY.
