George Elliot Thrasher

George Elliot Thrasher, 77, was born in Vestal, New York. He was a hardworking, family-oriented man who dedicated his life to his family, took pride in his work, and built lasting friendships along the way.

George proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he worked at IBM for more than 20 years, demonstrating the strong work ethic and dedication that were such an important part of who he was. Although he spent many years at IBM, his favorite job was bartending at the Sons of Italy, where he enjoyed the company of others, shared conversations, and built lasting friendships.

Above all else, George loved his family. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him, and he deeply cherished the bonds he shared with his brothers and sister. To his grandchildren, he was lovingly known as Pop Pop, a name that will forever bring to mind the love, laughter, and special memories they shared with him.

George leaves behind his loving family, including his son, Todd (Heather) O'Brien, and children, Alex, Jack, Madison, and Liam O'Brien; his daughter, Kirsten (John) Bell, and their daughter, Alyssa Bell; and his son, Brandon (Dana) Thrasher, and their children, Calvin, Evie, and Kyle Thrasher. He is also survived by Aubrey Thrasher, wife of his late son, Blake Thrasher, as well as his extended grandchildren, Nathan and Elliott Butler. He is further survived by his brothers, Richard (Darlene) Thrasher and Larry (Deborah) Thrasher, along with his sister, Henrietta Schwenz.

No tribute to George would be complete without mentioning his good friend and partner in mischief, Bob Grannis. These two old men had a knack for getting into all kinds of crazy adventures together. Their friendship was one of a kind, filled with laughter, unforgettable stories, and plenty of antics that will surely bring smiles to those who knew them.

Though he will be deeply missed, George's legacy lives on through the family he loved, the memories he created, and the countless lives he touched throughout his 77 years. His love for his family will continue to live on through the generations, and the memories they shared will remain in their hearts forever.
