Julie Sedlack (Smetana)

Julie Sedlack (Smetana) went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 4, 2026. She was 92 years old.

She was predeceased by her husband Michael Sedlack, her sisters Ann Perkoski, Mary Maerkl, and her brothers Peter Smetana and Paul Smetana. She was also predeceased by a beloved nephew, Philip Perkoski.

Julie is survived by her nieces Lorraine Hall and Deborah Apalanek, along with nephews David Perkoski, Glenn Maerkl, Paul Smetana and Craig Smetana. She is also survived by many great nieces and great nephews.

Julie was a practicing Greek Orthodox Christian and an active member and benefactor of St. Michael’s Church on Clinton Street in Binghamton, NY. She volunteered for many church events throughout the years and had been a member of the church choir.

Julie was employed by IBM for 35 years and retired as a secretary specialist in 1987. She went on to pursue her passion for interior decorating and created Jaye Interiors.

A divine liturgy will be celebrated by the Very Rev. Protopresbyter James Dutko on Thursday, January 15 at 10 am at St. Michael’s Church, 292 Clinton Street, Binghamton where her family will receive friends from 9 am to 10 am. Burial will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.

A very special thank you to Geri Nolan who took care of Julie for several years, both at home and during her time in the nursing home.
