Herbert Schleining

Herbert Schleining, 95, formerly of Endwell, passed away on Thursday May 2 nd , 2024 at Elizabeth Church Manor. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 72 years, Mary, his daughter, Patricia, his parents, Harry and Carlene Schleining, and his brother, Fred Snover. He is survived by his daughters, Marjorie Schleining of Cooperstown, Karen (Randy) Weeks of Endwell, and Melissa (Ben) Mannino of Cumming, Georgia. He is also survived by his brother-in-law George (Marilyn) Magur Jr. of Endwell, his grandchildren, Kyle and Ashley Weeks, Justin (Jessica) Smith, Anthony (Ally) and Christine Mannino, and Rachel (Bryce) Castille, nieces and nephews Ed (Kristin), Nicolette, and Ann Magur.

He was born in Scranton, PA on October 31 st , 1928 and relocated to Binghamton with his family as a teenager. He briefly served in the army before attending the Lowell School of Business where he met his wife, Mary. He was employed by IBM in Endicott for 39 years. Herbert was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church in Endicott where he enjoyed supporting the annual bake sale sessions. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially the Yankees. He was a wonderful and supportive father, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren of whom he was very proud.

A viewing will be held at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, 1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott, on Tuesday, May 7 th from 5-7pm. Father Nathanial Choma will hold a Panachida service Tuesday at 6:30pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 8 th at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, 1907 Jenkins St. Endicott, NY 13760. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s Orthodox Church. The family would like to thank Hilltop, St. Louise Manor and Elizabeth Church Manor for their loving care over the past several years.
