Nicholas T. Caforio, 87 of Endicott, passed away Friday, January 8, 2021. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Mary Caforio; his sister, Marie Guccia. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Adalene (Dezzutti) Caforio; three children, Loraine Anderson, Michael (Kathy) Caforio, TJ Caforio; five grandchildren, James (Kelly) Miner, Rebecca (Chris) Benefield, Christine (Joey) Ralph, Kevin Caforio, David Caforio; three great-grandchildren, Harrison Miner, Mary Everett Miner and Andi Ralph; his sister, Carolann (Louis) Kubisa; his brothers-in-law, Andrew Guccia and Gino Dezzutti; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a member of St. Ambrose Church, Endicott, a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War and a retired sales representative for John Hancock Financial Services with 32 years of service. He was an avid New York Yankee and New York Giants Fan. He loved being with family and friends and always had a good time. He never met a stranger. He will be dearly missed. Mary (Demkovich) Kotchick, passed away at home on January 1, 2021, seventeen days shy of her 102nd birthday. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Mick. Dorothy (Eleftheratos) Ahern, 92, formerly of Binghamton, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Absolut Care of Endicott. She was predeceased by her husband, James Ahern; her daughter, Christine Hine; her grandson, Matt Howe. She is survived by seven children, Stella (Al) Pittarelli, Michael Ahern (Debbie), Cassandra Ahern, Denise (Chris) Hall, Jamie (Michael) Dean, Laura (Ed) Warner, James (Stacy) Ahern; fifteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her sister, Catherine Glowacki; her brothers; Salvatore (Ted) Eleftheratos, Dennis Eleftheratos. She was a retired IBM employee, a former Universal Instruments employee, and held various other jobs until the age of 75. She was a devout catholic and a member of the former St. Andrew’s Church, Binghamton. Otto Polisensky, Jr.
Otto Polisensky, Jr., 92 of Endicott, passed away on December 22, 2020. He was predeceased by his parents, Otto, Sr, and Helen (Pelus) Polisensky; three sisters, Helen Gerbes, Mary Huse and Ella Johnson. He is survived by his brother, Rudolph (Patricia) Polisensky; also several nieces and nephews. He was a former member of St. Joseph’s Church, Endicott and a retired employee of Union Forging. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Czecho-Slovak Moravian Club. Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family. John Barnauskas, Jr.
John Barnauskas, Jr., 77 of Endicott, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Ann Barnauskas; his brothers, Joseph and Charles Barnauskas. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sandra Barnauskas; his son, David Barnauskas; his daughter, Larissa (Chris) Szlucha; his grandchildren, Alexander and Gabriela Szlucha. He was a member of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Endicott, a veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of the American Legion, Post #1700, a retired employee of IBM Endicott and a former bus driver and monitor for the Union Endicott School District. John was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who was deeply dedicated to providing for his family.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Mark) Pacilio; her son, David Blanco; her beloved granddaughter, Sarah Pacilio; her sister, Josephine Pellizzari; also many nieces and nephews. Francis Pilarcek
Francis Pilarcek, 73, of Endicott, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 28, 2020. He was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Margaret Pilarcek. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Diana (Hoffstadt) Pilarcek; three sons, Jeff (Dana) Pilarcek, Greg Pilarcek, Ryan Pilarcek; two grandchildren, Zachary and Jessie Pilarcek; two brothers, Bob (Barbara) Pilarcek, Steve (Elaine) Pilarcek; his brother-in-law, Fred (Nancy) Hoffstadt; also several nieces and nephews.
Fran graduated from Union Endicott High School, where he excelled in football, basketball, and track. In 2015 Fran was inducted into the Union Endicott High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He attended Oklahoma A & M and the University of Texas-El Paso on a football scholarship. After attending college, he signed a free-agent contract with the New Orleans Saints. He carried a PGA card at various golf courses and was a former head pro at Hancock Golf Course. Fran owned and operated two bars/restaurants in the area, Franny’s and the 4thQuarter. Later in life, Fran could be spotted tending bar at other local establishments. Fran enjoyed playing golf, watching his grandchildren at their sporting events, and rooting for the New York Yankees and the Buffalo Bills. In 2009, Fran suffered a major stroke that left him paralyzed on the right side of his body. This caused him many challenges, but he was always positive and had a smile on his face. The family wishes to thank all of the caregivers that helped make Fran’s final years comfortable. They will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Mary Ann (Nirchi) Maron, 97 of Endicott, was reunited with her loving husband of 52 years, Joseph Maron. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald (Lori) Maron; two granddaughters, Samantha Dalla-Verde (Scott), Liza Egloff (Peter); one great-grandson, Jacob Dalla-Verde; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Vicki (Chonka) Larnerd, 73 of Endicott, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020, at Wilson Hospital after a long illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Victor and Vivian Chonka; her sister, Trudy Magardino (Russ); her brother, Chuck Chonka; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Jennie Larnerd; her brother-in-law, Donald Larnerd, Jr.; her sisters-in-law, Betty Staub and Sharon Orme; her best friend, Cathy Peters. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Robert L. Larnerd; two children, Bobby Larnerd, Nicole Bertoni (Tim Coughlin); three grandchildren, Jayden Larnerd, Dominic Bill, Dante Bertoni; her sister-in-law, Carol Chonka; her in-laws, Howell Larnerd, Pauline (Sam) DeBellis, Bob Staub, Gary Orme; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marion (Blatnicky) Messemer, 85 of Vestal, went to be with the Lord, peacefully on Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Vestal Park. She was predeceased by her husband, C. James Messemer, and her sister, Mildred (Don) Hussey. She is survived by three children, Jane (Greg) Zeman, Don (Debbie) Messemer, John (Nancy) Messemer; two grandchildren, Arden (Auston) Miller - Zeman and Lucas Messemer; one step-granddaughter, Heather Speaker; one sister, Clara Crowe; nieces and nephews, Theresa (Roger) Congdon, Patricia Royer, Judy Hussey, David (Pat) Hussey, Dennis (Mary Ann) Hussey; also several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jay Leon Pisani
In this Holy Season of Advent, our Sovereign, Compassionate Lord Jesus has called forth His most beloved son, Jay Leon Pisani, on Thursday, December 17, 2020 to be with Him forever in the splendor of Heaven. Jay is now joyfully reunited with his beloved parents, Joseph and Josephine Pisani and his mother-in-law, Anna M. Pezzuti and many other relatives who have predeceased him.
My beloved and precious husband Jay, was an intelligent, caring, talented, unique, loving and witty man. He was an electrician by trade which he loved and was excellent at. God blessed him with an excellent memory and he possessed an exceptional talent for fixing anything. If he had trouble finding a solution, he would troubleshoot the problem in his mind until he figured it out, which gave him great joy. Jay also loved music, especially jazz, cars, planes, trains, culinary food and techniques, and if something interested him, he would research it intensely. Jay was blessed with an original, witty and commanding sense of humor that was creative and hilarious and could capture a room full of people with laughter. He most especially possessed a generous and compassionate heart and his hands were full of meritorious deeds of kindness and mercy. He was full of thoughtful advice for anyone who would listen, especially his beloved nephews and nieces. Jay practiced his Catholic faith by living the Golden Rule: Love God and your neighbor, assisted at holy mass weekly (until COVID), and prayed the rosary with his wife almost every night in honor of Our Lady of Fatima. He was a devoted husband, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, friend, co-worker, neighbor, cousin, nephew and trusted confidante. Jay was loved by many. A beautiful light had gone forth from the earth and now shines brightly in the heavenlies.
I would like to thank the good Samaritan and the Union Volunteer Emergency Squad for assisting my husband in his greatest time of need. Our beloved, precious Jay will be intensely missed by all, especially his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Anna L. Pisani; his beloved brother, James (Lani) Pisani; brothers-in-law, Edward (Debra) Kolanda, Joseph (Carol) Pezzuti; sisters-in-law, Maria Pezzuti, Grace Pezzuti (Jim Funai), Lisa (John) Carlucci; beloved nephews, Johua (Katy) Turner, Jason Kolanda, Vincenzo Carlucci and his much loved nieces, Danelle (Rosebud) Kolanda and Jessica (Matt) Pilkington and many cousins, relatives and friends.

Anita (Kushner) Kaschak
Anita (Kushner) Kaschak, 91 of Endicott, passed away peacefully Monday, December 14, 2020. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph; her parents, Frank and Anna Kushner; her brothers, Robert and Michael Kushner; her sister, Mary Ann (Joseph) Hickey. She is survived by her son, Gary (Theresa) Kaschak; two daughters, Patricia (David) Hamilton, Lynn (Theodore) Trapuzzano; her grandchildren, Nadine, Andrew and Jeffrey Kaschak, John Bango, Theodore, Caitlyn, and Joseph Trapuzzano; her great-granddaughter Quinn Kaschak; her sisters-in-law, Rita Kushner and Helen Kaschak; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Endicott, and its Ladies Guild, where she was a Past President. She was also instrumental in St. Mary’s Nut Roll sale. She was a former employee of Burt’s Department Store in Endicott. Anita was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who will be greatly missed. She has now reunited with her husband and the rest of her family in heaven. The family wishes to thank Karema Williams and the entire staff of 2B at Absolut Care of Endicott for the loving care and compassion that Anita received over the last three years. Gloria (Battaglini) Picciano
Gloria (Battaglini) Picciano, 94 of Endicott, passed away peacefully, Sunday December 13, 2020 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Emelio (Meo) Picciano; her sisters, Teresa (Patsy) Cannavino, Rose (Peter) Battaglini, Mary (Pie) Pezzuti, Bessie Battaglini, Anita (Ray) Caciola; her brothers, Anthony (Dorothy) Battaglini, Armond (Josephine) Battaglini. She is survived by three sons, Doug (Theresa) Picciano, David Picciano (Dara Raboy-Picciano), Derek Picciano; seven grandchildren, Adrianne (John Bachman) Picciano, Adam (Carla) Picciano, Lauren (Brandon) Gibbs, Andrew Picciano and his fiancé, Josepha Miller, Claire Picciano, Emma Picciano, Jola (Spencer) Scheepsma; three great-grandchildren, Gavin, Brody and Liora Scheepsma; two sisters, Josephine (Anthony, deceased) Picciano, Michelina (Rocco, deceased) Stancati; also several special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gloria graduated Union-Endicott High School and was a 1949 graduate of SUNY Cortland where she earned a degree in Health/Physical Education. She was a Physical Education Teacher in the Union-Endicott School District, teaching at U-E High School, George F. Johnson Elementary and many other schools in the district. She was also instrumental in establishing and implementing the Physical Education Program at St. Anthony’s Parochial School in the mid 1960’s. She also later taught in the Vestal Central School District. Gloria was a kind and caring person concerned about the welfare of others as much as her own. She was a good wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed.

Irena E. (Rebalska) Walach of Endwell, died at The Good Shepherd Fairview Home in Binghamton, New York on Wednesday December 9, 2020. She was predeceased by her husband, Zbigniew Augustyn Walach; her daughter, Eva I. Walach; her parents, Kazimiera and Jozef Rebalski of Poland; her brother and sister-in-law, Kazimierz and Kathleen Rebalski of Canada; her sisters, Donata Golak, Jozefa Mackiewicz and Jadwiga Karwat all of Poland; her brother-in-law and his wife, Andrew S. and Judi Walach of Canada; her niece, Ewa Mackiewicz-Wolfe of Endwell, NY. She is survived by her son, Andrew P. Walach of Binghamton, NY; her nephew, Bruce Wolfe of Endwell, NY; also several nieces, nephews and cousins in Poland, Canada, Australia and the USA.
Irena earned a Masters Degree in Poland before becoming a devoted wife and mother who dedicated her life to caring for her children. She was a member of The Church of the Holy Family, Endwell, NY.

Lisa L. Iannone
Lisa L. Iannone, 40 of Endicott, passed peacefully away Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA. Born on July 28, 1980, in Binghamton, and graduated from Union Endicott High School class of 1999. She attended Ithaca College and received a degree from Broome Community College in 2003. Lisa attended Anousheh School of Hair and completed the Standard Cosmetology Course in 2019.
Lisa was employed by Macy’s Department Store in Johnson City for 7 years and was supervisor of the Lancome’ counter.
She was predeceased by her mother Madeleine C. Iannone, her Uncles Anthony Iannone, Jim Sears, and Michael Woodard, her cousins Paul Iannone, Louis Iannone, and Stephen Sears, and her dog Luigi.
She is survived by her father Eugene Iannone, Uncle Michael and Aunt Yvonne Iannone, Aunts Louise Woodard, Marilyn Sears, and her beloved dog Cosmo.
Cousins Rosolina (Joseph) Guccia, Anthony, Nick, Torrey (Kelcie); Louise (Jeffrey) Morgan, Joshua; Maria (Patrick) Evans, Madeleine Paine, Diane Sears, David Woodard, and William (Lisa) Sears, and many second and third cousins. Her lifetime best friend Carrie (Michael) Ruckhardt.
Lisa was an inspiration to everyone that she encountered. Lisa lived life to its fullest, traveling, going to many concerts, and rarely turning down an invitation to enjoy life. Lisa was an advocate for social justice and was a voice for many that couldn’t advocate for themselves. Lisa was involved in advocating and raising awareness for Pulmonary Hypertension and Donate Life. Lisa loved her family, all her friends, and her furry friends with everything she had. Lisa loved her community, her roots, and was very proud to have been born and lived her entire life on the North Side of Endicott.
The family would like to express their gratitude to New York Presbyterian Hospital, especially the loving care of Dr. Erica Berman, The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, the loving nurses, care team, and for the loving, faithful care of Dr. Christian Bermudez and Dr. Maria Crespo. All angels amongst us. A heartfelt thank you to all the Prayer Warriors who tirelessly held Lisa up in prayer. We are forever grateful.

Carol Ann Watts
Carol Ann Watts Koch (Mimi) 93 of Endwell passed away November 27, 2020, She was born in Baltimore MD and lived in several cities growing up, most notably Oil City, PA and Butler, PA where she met and married the love of her life Karl. He predeceased her in 2018 after 68 years of marriage. Together they built a legacy of love which includes their 9 children: Suzan (Tim) Corwin, Larry (DD) Koch, Mary Ann (Jim) York, Patti (Brad) Anderson, Kathleen (Jim) Spatafora, Beth (Frank) Giordani, Karl III (Ruth) Koch, John (Becky) Koch, Tom (Deani) Koch; 27 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Carroll & Ann Watts, brother Donald, an infant great granddaughter, 4 brothers-in-law, & 1 sister-in-law. She is survived by her loving sister, Trisha, 3 sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
She was loved by all who knew her, always so full of life and love. She loved to dance and sing, was always the “belle of the ball.” She and Karl were members of a couple of dance clubs. They loved to travel. Her most favorite pastime was spending it with her family. She took great pride in her family, home and faith. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother. She was a parishioner of St Ambrose Church. The family would like to thank the staff of Susquehanna Nursing & Rehabilitation Center especially the 3rd floor for their excellent care. Charles A. Hoffman
Charles A. Hoffman, 77 of Endicott, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 25, 2020. He was predeceased by his parents, August and Melvina Hoffman; his brothers, William and Howard Hoffman; his sisters, Marion Franz, Peggy Hess, and Rosemary Coolbaugh. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pamela; two daughters, Melissa (Jim) Yankovich, Erika (Doug) Wilkinson; his son, Charles (Heather) Hoffman; five grandchildren, Krista (Paul) Melvin , Sierra and Alex Wilkinson, Charles Jason and Alyssa Hoffman; two great-granddaughters, Evelyn and Vera Melvin; his sister, Mary Hoffman; his sister-in-law, Sue Hoffman; his brother-in-law, William Coolbaugh.
Chuck worked for over 35 years at Parlor City Construction with a group of great friends. In his youth he loved playing baseball and basketball. He was an outstanding athlete and truly loved the games. He was a kind and loving father who enjoyed being with his family. He supported his children in all of their endeavors and was a constant source of strength. With the love and support of his children, he was never alone during his recent illness. Special thanks to Dr. John Perry and Dr. Julia Miller for their years of care and support as well as Paula, Tom and Alyson Pasquale for their love and their endless help in caring for Chuck. A Funeral Mass will be offered, Wednesday, 10:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church 300 Odell Ave. Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc. 1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott, on Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier 212 N. McKinley Ave. Endicott, NY 13760.
Olga B. Vaters
Olga B. Vaters passed away on November 16, 2020 in Clearwater, Florida, after fighting with heart disease and finally, cancer. Born in Endicott, New York, in 1924, she lived 96 years and proclaimed she was grateful for every day.
Olga was the first of two children born to Paul and Mary Panasik. In 1942, she married John Blaha, who emigrated from Czechoslovakia as the WWII was beginning. After the War, they built a house in Vestal, New York and raised three children, John, Ronald, and Diane. Olga and John moved to Florida after John’s retirement from IBM in 1986(.
Olga was always interested in learning and read the newspaper from front to back, saving many articles for reference. She liked to watch what she called “educational” public television. She was always the involved mother, following the lives of her three children and seven grandchildren and offering advice freely . She celebrated her Czech heritage and visited relatives in Czechoslovakia several times, taking her family across the “iron curtain” for the first time in 1960. Olga dabbled in Florida real estate sales and loved gardening, collecting many exotic plants. She remarried to John Vaters later in life and cared for him to his passing after he suffered a severe stroke. Finally, Olga cared for her former husband for 5 years during his battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. In recent years, Olga has been living near son, John and daughter, Diane in Clearwater, Florida.
Olga’s intentions are to be laid to rest with her parents at Vestal Hills Cemetery in New York State. She leaves a legacy of three children, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren – she will be missed!
Marcella D Cinotti
Marcella D. Cinotti passed on November 20, 2020, at 90. Devoted wife to the late Anthony J. Cinotti. Adored mother of Marybeth (Patrick), Danny (Sara) and Carolyn (Tony). Beloved grandmother to Christian, Caroline, Elizabeth, Isabella, Emaline and Susanna. Born on November 11, 1930, to the late Paul and Mary Kumpon, their first child raised on The Hill with sisters Rita (predeceased), Sylvia and Bernice, and brothers Donnie, Paul, and Al. Dear Aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Loyal friend, compassionate stranger, unwavering patriot, devout Catholic. “Keep your eyes open, hold tight to your convictions, give it all you've got, and love without stopping.” 1 Corinthians 16. A Private Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, followed by Christian burial at Calvary Cemetery.
